Tv host to be locked in a box for up to a month!! why would anyone do that ?

Cult TV host and DJ Tim Shaw is to be locked in a steel box no bigger than a wardrobe for up to a month in a bizarre solitary confinement challenge. Skip related content

Enlarge photo .Shaw, 35, will be on view constantly 24 hours a day on the internet during the length of his stunt, which will also form a nationwide treasure hunt.

He will have to lie down for up to 30 days and will not be freed from the steel box until he is found by a member of the public who will then win 30,000.

Shaw, who has presented Fifth Gear on Five and Channel 4's Extreme Male Beauty, will have no human contact for the duration of the ordeal and is not taking any items into his new home other than his bedding and the prize money.

He is unaware of his box's location in the UK - other than knowing it is at a spot which has played a "significant" part in his life before.

During his stay, he will talk about incidents in his life to allow web users to work out where he might be. They can then send in their entries via a Google Map mechanism.

He has consulted figures such as former SAS hero Andy McNab, psychologist Linda Papadopoulos and former TV Gladiator Trojan, real name Mark Griffin, to prepare for his ordeal.

Shaw, who has also presented for a number of radio stations including Absolute and Kiss 100, said: "I came up with an idea a long, long time ago. I do a few television shows and I mentioned this to a TV channel ages ago and they started wetting themselves saying this is a brilliant idea, we'd like to do it. And I mentioned it to a few guys in the industry and I just thought, you know what I'm just going to go and do it myself."

The married father-of-two will go into the box on February 15 at midday - a space so small he will be unable to do press ups, never mind sit up. He will have 12 hours of light each day from six bulbs in the box.

"It's like a wardrobe on its front really. It's three feet high and it's eight feet long - it's only a foot longer than I am lying down - and four feet wide. I am concerned with regards to bed sores, muscle wastage, all this, that and the other - I don't know what's driving me but I have to do it. There's no other reason to do it. it's a personal challenge."
    why why why ??
